| Mecenate fu uomo ricco e potente , capo degli intellettuali alla corte di Augusto . Amante della bella vita e protettore delle arti si fece costruire una magnifica villa con giardino , intorno al 30 a.C. Oggi l'intero complessoè sepolto dalla città, ed è visibile solo l'Auditorium. Quest'ultimo era forse destinato a letture o rappresentazioni. Sulle pareti rimangono solo tracce di affreschi con miniature, tra cui Dioniso ubriaco,sorretto da un satiro. | |

| Mecenate wasa pawerful and a rich man; be was the leader of the intellectuals at Augusto's court. Protector of the arts and bon viveur be ordered a magnificient villa with a garden around 30 BC. Nowadays the entire complex is buried under the city but, it is possible to visit the Auditorium. This place was built for readings and representations. On the walls there are some remains of frescos , among them Dionysus drank sustained by a satyr. | |
