| Edificata nel V secolo , e restaurata molte volte , è una delle più pittoresche e antiche chiese romane . Splendidi gli affreschi interni raffiguranti le scene dell'Antico e del Nuovo Testamento, risalenti al XII secolo. Il portico medievale e l'antico pozzo nel cortile completano uno dei più ambiti scenari da matrimonio . C'è però un precedente curioso, ricordato da Montaigne nel suo "Journal de Voyage" : nel 1578 "in questa chiesa certi Portoghesi avevano fondato una strana confraternita; si sposavano fra maschi alla messa , con le stesse cerimonie che noi usiamo per il nostro matrimonio , (...) e poi dormivano e abitavano insieme" . |

| Built in the Vth sentury this antique roman church had been restored many times .The fantastic frescoes from the XII century represent scenes from the Old and New Testament. The medieval gate and the ancient wall create an atmosphere where everybody would like to get married . Hence probabaly the strange facts that Montaigne quotes in his famous "Journal de Voyage " in 1578; " in this church some Portuguese had established a strange brotherhood ; in fact they were used to get married with men with the same ceremony that we used for our wedding (...) and then they slept and lived together . |
