| Si trova lungo la Via Ostiense,ma consigliamo,per raggiungerla di prendere gli autobus 769 e 770.Venne edificato da Costantino sulla tomba dell'apostolo Paolo.Nel XIX secolo ha subito molte modifiche a causa di un grosso incendio che la distrusse quasi interamente.Grandioso è il quadriportico esterno che precede la facciata,con le sue 146 colonne.l' interno è diviso in ben cinque navate,e un fregio lungo tutta la crociera presenta l'Effigi dei 236 papi che si sono succeduti dopo San Pietro.Una parte della basilica ospita il museo del monastero di San Paolo.L'ingresso è gratuito,ed è chiuso all'ora di pranzo. |

| Situated alongside of Ostiense road , and reachable by bus number 769 and 770. It was built by Constantino upon Saint Paolo's tomb, and was modified many times during the 19th century because of one fire that almost destroyed the place .The externals quadruple arches of 146 columns that precede the facade are great . The interior is divided in five naves and a long frieze represents the 263 popes who succeeded Saint Peter. In one part of the basilica ther is the museum of San Paolo's monastery, the entrance is free but closed during the lunch time . |
