| La basilica fu eretta nella prima metà del IV secolo con il nome di Basilica Apostolorum , e ascritta agli apostoli Pietro e Paolo , perchè secondo la tradizione sorgeva sulle catacombe dove sono custoditi i corpi dei due martiri. Verso il 350 , quando le reliquie del santo soldato Sebastiano furono trasferite qui , il nome della chiesa e delle catacombe venne cambiato . Fu ricostruita nel 1613 e l'interno , ad unica grande navata, presenta un bel soffitto ligneo con la raffigurazione di San Sebastiano . le catacombe si sviluppano su quattro piani : interessante l'ambiente detto Triclia , dove si svolgevano macabri banchetti funebri. | |

| The Basilica was built in the first part of the 4th century and dedicated to the memories of the two apostles Paul and Peter because it is supposed to be the place where their remains are buried . That's why the basilica was first known as the basilica apostolorum , but around 350 when the relics of the saint knight Sebastiano were brought to this place , the name of this church changed again.Later in 1613 the church had been built again and now inside the nave there is a ceiling that represents San Sebastiano.The catacombs are divided on four levels.
